#01 If you want to get a taste of the "hipster" lifestyle then you'll want to take the L train to the Bedford Ave. stop. You will arrive in Williamsburg which is the hippest neighborhood in NYC. There's a lot of cool shops and restaurants there worth checking out. #02 The Music Hall of Williamsburg is a great venue for shows. Artists such as Sonic Youth, Sufjan Stevens, James Blake, Steve Martin, Royksopp, British Sea Power, J Mascis, Wire, Yeasayer, LCD Soundsystem, Tegan & Sara, and Cake have performed there. #03 If you're curious about the home of some of the most famous hip hop and R&B artists of all time then you can take the G train to Bed-Stuy and check it out! Among the notable natives/residents of Bed-Stuy: Aaliyah, Big Daddy Kane, Mos Def, Lil' Kim, Jay-Z, Norah Jones, Spike Lee, The Notorious B.I.G., Carl Sagan, Chris Rock, Floyd Patterson, and Mike Tyson. #04 Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. A beautiful and interesting place to visit for both curious adults and children. This is one of the many tourist attractions that are included as a part of the "New York Pass."
#05 Take your children to the Brooklyn's Children Museum. It's open every day but Monday (the hours are 10AM to 5PM.) #06 New York Aquarium. This wonderful aquarium is near Coney Island so you can really make a day of it by visiting Coney Island and then the Aquarium (or visa versa.)
#07 Go to the Prospect Park Zoo. Most people think of the Bronx Zoo when thinking of zoos in New York City but there is a great zoo in Brooklyn too: Prospect Park Zoo. They've got giant rabbits, sea lions, and much more. Free entry with the "New York Pass." #08 Visit the Green-Wood Cemetary. There are many notable historical figures among the over half a million people buried in this 478 acre cemetary. It was founded in 1838 and was granted National Historic Landmark status in 2006.
#09 Walk the Brooklyn Heighs Promenade. Some of the best views of the Manhattan Skyline can be seen from here. #10 Walk the Brooklyn Bridge. You can get an amazing look at Manhattan while walking across the legendary Brooklyn Bridge.
